Anyone who has ever owned a cat will get this. I’ve had many cats over the years. Some could have cared less about the tree. Others would be stuck to it like velcro.

Here is my list of failed anti-cat-climb plans:

Anti-cat spray: I think the cat actually enjoyed the smell.
Wrap the tree in a sheet: It only gave the cat a good place to hide.
Put aluminum foil around the base: It became another thing to play with.

If there were a Star Trek force field, I would have used it.
